A battle that features two lightweight fighters is set for UFC Fight Night 44 in San Antonio, Texas, on June 28, 2014.
After being pulled from UFC 172 because of Vagner Rocha's injury, Joe Ellenberger will finally make his Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) debut against Frank Trevino, according to MMA Junkie.
Ellenberger (14-1) -- the twin brother of UFC welterweight contender Jake Ellenberger -- is currently on a two-fight win streak, but has yet to fight for a notable promotion outside of the regional scene. Accordingly, he has stopped 12 opponents out of 14 thus far.
Trevino (12-0), meanwhile, is currently undefeated in mixed martial arts (MMA), winning his sole Octagon appearance against Renee Forte at UFC 171 in Dallas. The Texas native fights in his home state for the second time straight.
Ellenberger was originally slated to meet Yancy Medeiros last weekend; however, an injury to Bobby Green saw Medeiros take the latter's place against Jim Miller. He was then pitted against Rocha, but the bout was scrapped just days prior to the event.
UFC Fight Night 44, which will take place at AT&T Center in San Antonio, Texas, is headlined by a Featherweight bout between Cub Swanson vs. Jeremy Stephens.
