Jon Jones soundly defeated Glover Teixeira in the main event of last night's (Sat., April 26, 2014) UFC 172: "Jones vs. Teixeira" pay-per-view (PPV) from the Baltimore Arena in Baltimore, Maryland, winning a five-round unanimous decision on scores of 50-45 across the board. The champion was never in danger of losing his light heavyweight title, thoroughly picking apart his latest "toughest challenge to date" with an "artistic" display of offense. This man threw the kitchen sink at his Brazilian foe and while he never came close to a finish, that's about the only thing Teixeira will receive a great deal of credit for after the ass kicking he was just subjected to. That's not to say it wasn't worth giving him his crack at the 205-pound throne, but the hype machine that claimed he was going to give "Bones" any real trouble was proven ridiculous once again. Maybe next time the UFC will call it like it is and put it simply: Jones is an otherworldly talent and you should pay money to watch him methodically pick apart his opponents. They all meet the same fate eventually. For a round-by-round breakdown of the fight click here, and for complete UFC 172 results and blow-by-blow coverage of all the night's action click here.
