The first of three featured bouts on tonight's (Sat., April 26, 2014) UFC 172: "Jones vs. Teixeira" pay-per-view (PPV) from the Baltimore Arena in Baltimore, Maryland, featured middleweights Luke Rockhold and Tim Boetsch banging it out for positioning in the 185-pound division.
Oh look, it's the former Strikeforce champion moving on up.
And he was dominant.
Boestch went for an early takedown and in the ensuing scramble, Rockhold locked on a triangle. Because of the positioning, he was able to work for multiple submissions, including a kimura. Ultimately, Rockhold attacking from so many angles was too much.
It was the kimura, with enough torque, that forced a tap.
"I want to get back, I want a title shot," Rockhold said in the post-fight interview. "But I don't want anything given to me. The best way to do that is Vitor Belfort. But if not, I've got some personal business with Michael Bisping."
