UFC 172's Jon Jones gets into heated exchange with Anderson Silva during NIKE: 'Winner Stays' World Cup soccer video

Here's a glimpse of what a showdown between Jon Jones and Anderson Silva would have looked like, had their much-ballyhooed "super fight" ever come to fruition. Skip to 3:15 if you hate soccer (or long commercials).

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) light heavyweight champion Jon Jones gets into a heated exchange with former middleweight kingpin Anderson Silva, in the "Winner Stays" video from Nike ahead of soccer's World Cup, which my FIFA friends tell me is kind of a big deal.

Says Nike:

In this game of winner stays, every touch of the ball proves that football will always belong to those who Risk Everything, even when it matters the most. Featuring: Cristiano Ronaldo, Neymar Jr., Wayne Rooney, Zlatan Ibrahimović, Gerard Piqué, Gonzalo Higuaín, Mario Götze, Eden Hazard, Thiago Silva, Andrea Pirlo, David Luiz, Andrés Iniesta, Thibaut Courtois, and Tim Howard.

Both Jones and Silva are sponsored by Nike and at one point, were in talks to throw down in a champion vs. champion "super fight," until Chris Weidman came along and put the kibosh on those grand plans, thanks to consecutive wins at UFC 162 and UFC 168.

"The Spider" would break his leg in their rematch and remain sidelined for all of 2014.

"Bones," meanwhile, moves on to fight Glover Teixeira this Saturday night (April 26, 2014) in the main event of UFC 172 from the Baltimore Arena in Baltimore, Maryland (results). A win in "Charm City" gets him an Alexander Gustafsson rematch, or perhaps the new super fight kid on the block.

Winner stays.
