Anthony Johnson has already been cut from the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) ranks once before for missing weight, but if he comes in heavy one more time, he will be banned for life.
That's according to UFC President Dana White (via FOX Sports Marc Raimondi), who told reporters during today's (April 26, 2014) Ultimate Media Day from Oriole Park at Camden Yards in Baltimore, Maryland, that if "Rumble" misses weight for this weekend's (April 26, 2014) UFC 172 light heavyweight fight against Phil Davis, he will be cut and not be welcomed back.
As in never again.
Johnson, who was competing as a welterweight at the time, missed weight three times in his first run with UFC.
His latest transgression, which came prior to his loss to Vitor Belfort at UFC 142 in a bout that was supposed to be contested at middleweight, cost "Rumble" his spot on the UFC roster.
Immediately after, Johnson missed weight (yet again) prior to his bout against David Branch under the Titan FC umbrella.
Soon after, Johnson decided to try his luck in the 205-pound division, a move that proved to be the best decision in his mixed martial arts (MMA) career, as he racked up four straight wins (one at heavyweight), hitting the required weight limit each and every time.
And as he makes the final preparations before he tips the scales ahead of his showdown against "Mr. Wonderful," you can bet Johnson will be hitting the treadmill and sauna a few more times on the heels of White's latest threat.
