Even though she can beat someone into a bloody pulp inside the Octagon, Paige VanZant might still get carded at the local watering hole.
The former Invicta FC strawweight was expected to compete on The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 20 alongside her ex-promotional counterparts in the all-women's edition. Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) acquired 11 fighters from the female fighting promotion and booked them for the upcoming season of the combat sports reality show.
Maybe next time.
It turns out VanZant is only 20 years old, and because of her age, the promotion confirmed to FOX Sports the youngster doesn't meet the minimum age requirement of 21 to be a cast member. It could be because the house is normally filled with alcohol, which has been known to cause total chaos in season's past.
The 3-1 strawweight is still under contract to UFC following the Invicta acquisition, but took to Twitter to let her fans know they would have to wait just a little bit longer to see her do work.
Patience is a virtue.
TUF 20 is set to premiere on Sept. 10, 2014, as the show begins filming in May. The coaches on opposing sides will be reigning UFC lightweight champion Anthony Pettis against former Strikeforce lightweight champion Gilbert Melendez, setting up a fight between the two later this year (details).
