Fabricio Werdum soundly defeated Travis Browne in the headlining bout at tonight's (Sat., April 19, 2014) UFC on Fox 11: "Werdum vs. Browne" event at the Amway Center in Orlando, Florida. That's the nicest way to put it, really. Werdum, who earned a title shot against Cain Velasquez in Mexico for his victory, was dominant all throughout, only losing one round on one judges scorecard -- and even that was questionable. He rocked and socked Browne with combinations early, mixing in a few takedowns and ground control along the way. Later, he coasted to the scorecards with a series of stiff jabs and good movement in and out of the pocket. He conserved exactly the right amount of energy to get him through all five rounds in what served as a perfect tune-up for his next fight against the very best in the world in the 265-pound weight class. Finish aside, this was about as good as it could have been for Werdum. For a detailed look at the fight, including a round-by-round breakdown of the action, click here.
