UFC Fight Night 39: "Nogueira vs. Nelson" from Abu Dhabi has officially wrapped, which means it's time for those select fighters who went above and beyond in their respective fights to get a little extra grease for their efforts.
Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) dished out its standard post-fight monetary bonuses to four of the 16 fighters on the card. And it's probably no surprise who's heading home with a second sack of simoleons.
Errrr... pump the brakes.
This is where I remind you the bonus structure has changed since these were last handed out. "Fight of the Night" will still be awarded but the best knockout and submission will no earn any extra cash. Instead, there will be two "Performance of the Night" awards dished out.
Got it? Good.
Roy Nelson and Ramsey Nijem scored "Performance of the Night" bonuses for their respective first-round knockouts. Nijem plastered Beneil Dariush and "Big Country" scored a brutal, walk-off finish over Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira. In the co-main event, Clay Guida and Tatsuya Kawajiri put on the "Fight of the Night" with their three round, back-and-forth affair.
Here are the special UFC Fight Night 39 bonuses:
Performance of the Night -- Roy Nelson
Performance of the Night -- Ramsey Nijem
Fight of the Night -- Clay Guida vs. Tatsuya Kawajiri
Again, each fighter received $50,000 extra for their performances in addition to their respective base salaries, which we will pass along as soon as that information becomes available.
