Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) has a middleweight melee on tap for the upcoming UFC 175 pay-per-view (PPV) event, in the form of Uriah Hall vs. Thiago Santos, which takes place inside Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada, on July 5, 2014.
UFC announced the addition earlier today.
Hall (8-4) was finally able to get back into the win column by retiring Chris Leben at UFC 168. Prior to that, the former Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 17 runner-up had failed to live up to expectations, dropping decision losses to Kelvin Gastelum and John Howard.
He appears to have settled down following his "Crippler" win and can slowly work his way up the ladder.
But don't expect Santos to make it easy for him. "Marreta" (9-2) beat the stuffing out of Rony Markes at UFC Fight Night 38 earlier this month in Brazil, evening his UFC record at 1-1 after a debut loss to Cezar Ferreira at UFC 163 last August.
Who do you like in the battle of up-and-comers?
UFC 175 will feature a middleweight main event between reigning champion, Chris Weidman, defending his 185-pound title against former light heavyweight kingpin Lyoto Machida. No other bouts have been announced at this time, but you can expect that to change sooner rather than later.
