Thiago Silva released from jail and submits to house arrest following assault charges in Florida

Jason Silva-USA TODAY Sports

Thiago Silva will get to sleep in his own bed for the first time in over a month.

Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) light heavyweight Thiago Silva is no longer behind bars.

The Brazilian slugger walked out of Broward County Jail earlier today (March 7, 2014) after posting $25,000 bond, stemming from his arrest back on Feb. 6 in Oakland Park, Fla., following an armed standoff with police (see his mug shot here).

He was initially detained and held without bond after the court deemed him a flight risk, as well as a threat to his community, but Broward Circuit court judge Geoffrey Cohen has since reversed the ruling and transfered his case to domestic violence court.

TMZ has the details:

Silva was initially locked up without bond when he was arrested but today, the judge changed his mind and set bond at $25k. But Silva isn't entirely a free man ... we're told he'll be on house arrest with an electronic monitor for the time being. He must also complete an anger management program.

The judge also ordered Thiago to stay away from his wife and her boyfriend at all times. He must also submit to random drug and alcohol testing.

You can access his police report here, as well as watch the video replay of his initial court appearance here.

Silva was released from UFC shortly after the incident, though attorney Scott Saul says his client was drunk at the time he allegedly brandished a weapon outside the Pablo Popovitch jiu-jitsu academy and thinks his wife's statement about domestic violence was "taken out of context" during her interview with police.

The Brazilian is expected back in court next week and CBS Miami reports that his manager, Glenn Robinson, "is working on getting Silva a scheduled fight with another league since the UFC terminated his contract following his arrest."
