A few days after getting yanked from his lightweight scrap against Issac Vallie-Flagg in favor of Takanori Gomi -- which was set to go down at UFC 172 on April 26, 2014 in Baltimore, Maryland -- Danny Castillo has found a new opponent.
Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) announced that "Last Call" would remain on the pay-per-view (PPV) card to face former welterweight Charlie Brenneman.
Castillo (16-6) was last seen losing to Edson Barboza at UFC on FOX 9 back in December in a thrilling "Fight of the Night" performance. Barboza suffered an early scare in round one from the Team Alpha Male fighter to win a unanimous decision on the judges' scorecards.
Brenneman (19-6), meanwhile, received a call back to the big show last January when he accepted a last-minute fight against Beneil Dariush after Jason High was forced out of UFC Fight Night 35 with an injury. Ultimately, "The Spaniard" came up short in his Octagon return, getting submitted (rear-naked choke) in the very first round.
Both men will look to get back into the win column, as they hope to avoid two straight losses -- and a potential pink slip -- when they go toe-to-toe in Baltimore.
Who are you picking to win this intriguing 155-pound scrap?
UFC 172 will be headlined by Jon Jones, who will make his first title defense since his close call against Alexander Gustafsson last September, taking on hard-hitting Glover Teixeira, who hasn't lost in nearly nine years. In the co-main event, top 205-pound contender, Phil Davis, will welcome back Anthony Johnson, who reeled of six straight wins on the regional circuit to earn a second UFC audition.
