Calling all boxing fans!
Showtime is all set to kick off its first major pay-per-view (PPV) event of its 2014 fight campaign, featuring the return of Mexican superstar Saul Alvarez. "Canelo" will face off against fellow countryman Alfredo Angulo in the headlining bout of this weekend's pugilistic extravaganza inside the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Both fighters are coming off a loss in their most previous bouts.
Alvarez (42-1-1, 30 KO) suffered the first defeat of his pro career when he was outclassed by Floyd Mayweather Jr. last September in the heart of "Sin City." While the hokey scorecards reflected a majority decision, it wasn't close by any stretch of the imagination.
But nobody looks good against "Money," so he gets a free pass.
On the other side of the ring, Angulo (22-3, 18 KO) came up empty against Erislandy Lara last June in California, suffering a broken orbital bone in the process which sidelined him for the remainder of the year. His first fight back is a tall order, but "El Perro" is not afraid of a dog fight.
Should be a good one.
As always, we'll be bringing you results and live play-by-play of this weekend's "Canelo vs. Angulo" boxing showdown, as well as full coverage of the weigh ins and press conference. Until then, let's get some early predictions from you fans of the "Sweet Science."
Is this one a lock for "Canelo?"
