No surprises here.
Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) flyweight number one contender and local favorite John Dodson will try to get back into the 125-pound title hunt when he throws hands against former foe John Moraga at the promotion's upcoming UFC Fight Night event on June 7, 2014, at Tingley Coliseum in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Radio station 104.1 The Edge (via Sherdog.com) announced the pairing earlier today.
Dodson (15-6) holds a unanimous decision win over Moraga at the Nemesis Fighting: "MMA Global Invasion" mixed martial arts (MMA) event back in 2010, which took place inside Barcelo Convention Center in Dominican Republic. It was the last fight "The Magician" had prior to joining the ranks of The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 14.
Since then, he's 4-1 with three finishes.
Moraga (14-2) stayed busy on the regional circuit before his UFC debut in late 2012. Like Dodson, his only loss since they last met was a flyweight title fight to Demetrious Johnson, which snapped a seven fight winning streak. The Arizonian rebounded with a split-decision win over Dustin Ortiz earlier this year.
UFC Fight Night in Albuquerque will be headlined by former UFC lightweight champion Ben Henderson as he tries to stay alive in the 155-pound title hunt against surging division prospect Rustam Khabilov (details). Expect more "Fight Night" announcements to be revealed in the coming weeks.
