Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is doing work as we speak in Natal, Brazil, with UFC Fight Night 38: "Shogun vs. Henderson 2" on FOX Sports 1.

Before the main card gets underway, which is headlined by Mauricio Rua vs. Dan Henderson for the second time, the "Prelims" were wrapped up late Sunday afternoon (March 23, 3014) on the Fight Pass network and FOX Sports 1.

The Brazilian crowd was vibrant early, as they witnessed a handful of exciting fights to get them warmed up for the main attraction.

It must be noted that Will Chope's fight against Diego Brandao was pulled from the card, after Chope had a past assault charge surface on Saturday night.

In the main event of the "Prelims," Thiago Santos silenced the crowd by defeating hometown favorite Ronny Markes courtesy of a liver kick.

After they took the center of the Octagon and traded for a bit, Santos threw a kick to Markes' liver, and the latter didn't realize how it bad it was until seconds later. Markes collapsed to the ground, as his middleweight counterpart softened him up with some ground and pound, forcing Mario Yamasaki to step in.

"Marreta" moves to 1-1 in UFC, while Markes loses his second straight fight.

The dark horse fight of the night would be contested in the flyweight division, as Jussier Formiga returned to winning ways by choking out Scott Jorgensen in the first round ... with the help of a head butt.

Both fighters fought scrappily to commence the first round, with Formiga fearlessly trading with the better striker.

As Jorgensen came blazing forward, he was caught by a head butt that went unnoticed by the referee, which resulted in him being thrown to the mat by Formiga.

The former number one flyweight in the world hopped onto Jorgensen's back, locked in his hooks and sunk in the rear-naked choke for the victory.

Unfortunately for the American, it was his fifth loss in his past six fights, while Formiga improves to 2-2 in his last four bouts.

Kenny Robertson disposed of Thiago Perpetuo rather quickly, defeating the Brazilian by rear-naked choke as well in the first round. The Illinois resident wasted no time in putting Perpetuo on the ground, smothering him until the Brazilian gave him his back.

Robertson locked in a choke, tapping Perpetuo in less than two minutes.

The welterweight moves to 3-3 in UFC, with the sixth submission win of his career.

The FOX Sports 1 broadcast kicked off with a light heavyweight bout, in which Hans Stringer made a successful Octagon debut by edging Francimar Barroso by unanimous decision.

Barroso spent most of the round dominating Stringer on the mat, until the Dutchman was able to reverse positioning and had his way with the Brazilian every time they tied up.

In the second round, Stringer had to be careful of Barroso's kicks, even though Stringer landed better punches.

Stringer opted to clinch with Barroso and went for a lateral drop, but Barroso had success in top position until they both made it back to their feet. The highlight of the round was Barroso decking Stringer with a massive uppercut.

The third round was a grappling battle, with Stringer getting the better of the exchanges, despite Barroso finishing off strong.

Stringer improves to 21-5-3, having not lost in his past six fights.

In the first fight of the night, The Ultimate Fighter (TUF): "Brazil" season one finalist Godofredo Castro obliterated UFC newcomer Noad Lahat in the first round via flying knee.

Both fighters didn't hesitate to throw wild strikes in the opening sequences, as "Pepey" was looking to land bombs. Lahat certainly wanted to get more technical by putting Castro on his back, yet he didn't get the chance to do so.

The Brazilian lunged forward by throwing a right knee, transitioning into a left knee by switching in mid air, and caught "Neo" square on the chin. Lahat immediately dropped, unconscious with his back against the cage and his head in the fifth row.

"Pepey" snaps a two-fight losing streak, while Lahat suffers his first defeat in eight fights.
