Here is another Who Should Fight Who.
Hendricks should fight The Winner of Lombard vs Woodley - Reason: What a fucking fight. That my friends was the Fight of the Year. These two guys just slugged it out for twenty five minutes, it was one of the best title fights I've ever seen. Hendricks won the fight by Unanimous decision, I was upset by the decision because I scored the fight live 48-47 Lawler but after watching for a second time a few days later I agreed with the judges and scored the fight 48-47 Hendricks. The fight was so fucking close and it could have gone either way really. Both guys looked great. Hendricks won the fight because he won that fifth round. Most people including me after watching the fight for a second time had the fight even going into the fifth. Hendricks hurt Lawler and took him down in that round, thats why hes wearing the belt today and Robbie's not. Of course I wanted to see an immediate rematch, I wanted to see it before the score cards were even read, this was an amazing fight and I wanted to see the rematch as soon as possible. I still do but Johny Hendricks is going to be out until the Fall, he has a torn bicep and hes going to be on the shelf for a few months. I don't see Lawler waiting around for the rematch and plus I don't see them giving Lawler an immediate rematch anyway so hes going to have to fight someone else. I figure the UFC is going to book Tyron Woodley vs Hector Lombard soon. Those two guys are the closest to a title shot but neither really did enough in their fights to prove without a doubt that they're the #1 contender. So I figure they're going to have fight each other and The Winner will fight Johny Hendricks in the Fall. Hendricks vs The Winner of Woodley vs Lombard, This will most likely be the next Welterweight Title Fight.
Lawler should fight Diaz - Reason: Robbie Lawler shocked the world. Nobody expected him to look as good as he did in that fight. It was a fucking war, they went back and forth for Five rounds and it was one of the best title fights of all time. Nobody thought Lawler could go Five rounds, definitely not Five rounds of constant action. He looked fantastic, he was lighting Hendricks up on the feet and his TDD looked awesome. I was blown away by his performance. He lost the decision but his stock is way way up. I'd say hes one win away from another title shot. I'd like to see Lawler fight a guy who only wants big fights, Nick Diaz. Now before Lawler and Hendricks went to war I'd say there wasn't a good chance Diaz would agree to do a rematch with Lawler but now Lawler's stock is way up and that rematch would be huge. Its a Main event big money fight and I see Diaz taking this fight. It makes a ton of sense ranking wise, stylistically all that shit. These guys fought Ten years ago, it was a great fight. Diaz's taunting was getting to Lawler and it cost him, Lawler got overaggressive and he got knocked out. I know Lawler wants this rematch and I believe Diaz would take this fight if its offered to him. It'd be an amazing fight and I really want to see it. Make it happen Joe Silva! Lawler could also fight Demian Maia or Jake Shields.
Woodley should fight Lombard - Reason: Tyron Woodley looked very good in that fight. He was winning, he landed some nice punches in the first round, took Condit down a couple of times and thats how he hurt Condit's leg. Condit hurt his knee when Woodley took him down in the second round and when they stood backup Woodley landed a hard leg kick on Condit's left leg when Condit tried to land on his right leg his knew blew out. It was a very unfortunate way for this fight to end but nonetheless Woodley looked great. If Woodley destroyed Condit and knocked him out I'd be calling for him to get a title shot, he did not do that so I believe he has to fight one more time before he gets a shot. I'd like to see him face Hector Lombard next. This fight makes a ton of sense both ranking wise and stylistically. This would be a #1 contender fight and I believe it would be a stand up war. A Five round fucking BANGFEST. I think this fight will happen and I look forward to watching it. Woodley could also fight Rory MacDonald or Nick Diaz.
Carlos Condit is going to be out for a while. He hurt his knee when he was taken down and totally blew it out when he landed on it after trying to check a leg kick. He tore his ACL so he'll probably be out for the rest of this year. I don't know who he'll fight when he returns its too far off to have an idea at the moment. Hopefully he just heals up and is able to return by early 2015. Hes one of the most exciting fighters in the world, he always comes to fight and I hope he recovers quickly.
Jury should fight Trujillo - Reason: This was Myles Jury's biggest fight to date and he dominated. He seemed to be able to land any strike he wanted and he took Sanchez down at will. Sanchez had nothing for him, Sanchez would charge towards Jury like a moron and Jury would step to side and punch him in his face or take him down. It was a one sided beating and I was very impressed with Jury. I'd like to see Jury fight Abel Trujillo next. I like this fight a lot, it makes sense to me ranking wise and I believe this a gradual step up in competition for Jury. Striker vs Grappler fights always intrigue me and I think this would be a great fight. Jury could also fight Nate Diaz or The Winner of Miller vs Green.
Sanchez should fight Guillard - Reason: Diego Sanchez has been one of the most exciting fighters in the world for a while now but his style as entertaining as it is seems to be holding him back. Guys know how to beat him, he telegraphs everything and his main offensive weapon is charging his opponent and swinging like a madman. He needs to change up his style, at least a little bit. He got his ass kicked by Myles Jury, his face was a bloody mess and I'm sure his fans want to see him make a change. I'd like to see Sanchez fight Melvin Guillard next. I love this fight, I have these two in the same area right now ranking wise. They're also both in the same spot career wise, kind of in limbo. I don't know how its possible that these two have yet to fight each other. Its baffling, I think its time we see them throw the fuck down. This fight makes a ton of sense to me ranking wise and stylistically. These two would stand in the center and swing until one of them drops, it'd be a fantastic fight and I really hope it happens. Sanchez could also fight Gleison Tibau or Gray Maynard.
Lombard should fight Woodley - Reason: Hector Lombard looked very good in that fight. He was fucking Shields up in that first round, he had him rocked a couple times but never put him away. Instead he played it safe, that was very disappointing. He'd hurt Shields or take him down and do nothing, just control Shields. It was still impressive, he dominated Shields whos a very good fighter and an excellent grappler. I just would have liked to see him try to finish more than he did. I think his playing it safe cost him a title shot and I think hes going to be fighting his teammate Tyron Woodley next. I love this fight, it makes a ton of sense and it'd be a fantastic fight. It'd be a #1 contender fight and I think it'd be a war. Lombard could also fight Rory MacDonald or Nick Diaz.
Shields should fight Lim - Reason: Jake Shields is a good fighter but he looked like shit in there with Lombard. He had absolutely nothing for him and I think hes one of the most overrated fighters in the world. In my opinion hes 1-5-1 in his last 7 fights, Hes technically 3-3-1 in his last 7 but I think he lost to Maia and Woodley. Also I hate Jake Shields, hes one of the most boring fighters in all of MMA and hes a fucking douchebag. Can't stand the guy, I hope the UFC doesn't re-sign him but I think they will. So if they do re-sign him I'd like to see him him face Hyun Gyu Lim next. I like this fight a lot, it makes sense to me ranking wise and I think its a really interesting fight. Also I think Lim would knock Shields the fuck out and I'm really interested in seeing that. So I hope this fight happens. Shields could also fight Rick Story or Robbie Lawler.
St. Preux should fight Bader - Reason: Ovince St. Preux is a name you're going to be hearing for a long time. This dude is super athletic, hes strong and he chokes motherfuckers out with the Von Flue choke. Nobody in the fucking world saw that shit coming. OSP locked it up and by the time the Ukrainian knew what was happening it was too late, he was out. I was very impressed with OSP's performance and I can't wait to see what he'll do next. I'd like to see St. Preux face Ryan Bader next. I like this fight, it makes sense to me ranking wise and stylistically. I think OSP's ready to face an opponent like Bader and I'm interested to see how OSP does against a great wrestler. I'm really intrigued by this one and I hope it happens. St. Preux could also fight Rafael Cavalcante or Antonio Rogerio Nogueira.
Krylov should fight Perosh - Reason: Nikita Krylov was making his Light Heavyweight debut and lets just say it didn't go the way he would've liked. I don't think he saw himself getting choked out in 90 seconds but hey shit happens. I still like Krylov at this weight, I think its where he belongs and I expect him to be successful at this weight. I'd like to see him face Anthony Perosh next. I love this fight, it makes a ton of sense to me ranking wise and I think it'd be a fun fight. Krylov could also fight Jimi Manuwa or James Te Huna.
Gastelum should fight Kim - Reason: That was an amazing fight, one of the best fights of the year. It was a back and forth I thought it was a Draw but they gave the fight to Kelvin Gastelum. I was fine with the decision even though I thought it should been a Draw, it could have gone either way. It was a great fight regardless of who got their hand raised. Both guys won that fight, nobody loses in a fight like that. Both guys stock is up and both guys are in my Top 15. I'd like to see Gastelum face Dong Hyun Kim next. I love this fight, its a step up in competition ranking wise for Kelvin but with how he looked against Story I think he can handle it. This fight makes sense to me ranking wise and stylistically. I think it'd be a BANGFEST and I hope it happens. Gastelum could also fight Mike Pyle or Demian Maia.
Story should fight Pierce - Reason: Rick Story fought his ass off and turned what was a one sided ass whooping into a fucking war. He lost the first round badly and then came back and the second round and almost finished Gastelum and then the third round was back and forth. It was a great fight and I was really impressed with both guys. I'd like to see Story finally fight Mike Pierce. I've wanted to see this fight for a long time now and I think its finally time we see it. It makes all the sense in the world and I think it'd be a great fight. It makes sense to me ranking wise, stylistically and they two supposedly have a beef and I want to see fight happen. Make it happen Joe Silva! Story could also fight Jake Shields or Josh Koscheck.
Andrade should fight Nunes - Reason: Jessica Andrade looked very good in that fight. It was a close fight but I thought she did enough to get w so I was happy when they read her name. It was a good performance, not as impressive as her last but it was good. I'd like to see her face Amanda Nunes next. I like this fight a lot, it makes sense to me ranking wise and stylistically. I believe Nunes is a gradual step up in competition for Andrade and I think it'd be a great fight. Andrade could also fight Jessica Eye or The Winner of Correia vs Duke.
Pennington should fight De Randamie - Reason: Raquel Pennington fought a good fight but Andrade outworked her just a bit. I liked what I saw from Pennington, I was surprised at how good she looked in there with Andrade. I'd like to see her face Germaine De Randamie next. I love this fight, it makes sense to me ranking wise and stylistically. I think it'd be a stand up war and I hope it happens. Pennington could also fight Sara McMann or The Loser of Carmouche vs Tate.
Bermudez should fight Oliveira - Reason: Dennis Bermudez looked awesome in that fight, that was probably the best hes ever looked. He dominated Jimy Hettes, he beat the piss out of him and he made it look easy. I was very impressed, hes on a six fight win streak and I expect him to get a high ranked or big name opponent next. I'd like to see Bermudez fight Charles Oliveira next. I love this fight, it makes a ton of sense to me ranking wise and I think it'd be a fantastic fight. I really hope this one happens. could also fight The Winner of Kawajiri vs Guida or Ricardo Lamas.
Hettes should fight Elkins - Reason: Jimy Hettes looked like absolute garbage in that fight. It was embarrassing, he was being man handled and he was flopping all over the cage wanting out. I don't know if Hettes is good enough to stay in the UFC for long, he may be getting cut soon. He also looked very small next to Bermudez who is jacked but perhaps a drop down to 135 lbs is the right move for Hettes. I don't see him dropping down though before he fights again so I'd like to see him face Darren Elkins next. I like this fight a lot, it makes a ton of sense to me ranking wise and stylistically. Elkins is a grinder who's primary weapon is his grappling, Hettes is also a great grappler. I think this would be a grapping war and I would love to see it. Hettes could also fight Andy Ogle or Maximo Blanco.
Garcia should fight Musoke - Reason: Man this fight was a fucking war, that second round might be the round of the year. It was fucking crazy first Spencer hurt Garcia badly and then Garcia rocked Spencer and it kept going back and forth like that for most of the round. It was nuts, it was an amazing fight and it was one of those fights where there are no losers. Garcia won the decision and I think it was the right call, he got a bunch of takedowns and he controlled Spencer on the ground for a good chunk of the fight. I like Garcia a lot, I'm a fan of his he fights and looks a lot like Hector Lombard. I've thought this ever since I saw him in his UFC debut and thats the fight I want to see happen eventually but I'd say hes pretty far off from that battle at the moment. I'd like to see him face Nico Musoke next. I love this fight, it makes a ton of sense to me ranking wise. I believe this is a gradual step up in competition for Garcia and I think these two are on the same level right now. I think it'd be a phenomenal fight and I hope it happens. Alex Garcia could also fight Ildemar Alcantara or Igor Araujo.
Spencer should fight Bahadurzada - Reason: Sean Spencer fought a great fight and looked fantastic but Garcia outworked him just enough to get the W. Spencer's stock only goes up after a war like that and I expect him to get an opponent who likes to stand and trade next. I'd like to see Spencer face Siyar Bahadurzada next. I love this fight, it makes a lot of sense to me both ranking wise and stylistically. This fight would be a fucking BANGFEST. Someone would definitely be getting knocked out in this one, I hope it happens. Spencer could also fight Omari Akhmedov or Viscardi Andrade.
Trevino should fight Chavez - Reason: This was Frank Trevino's UFC debut and I thought he looked great. He dominated a tough guy in Renee Forte and he made it look easy. He was as cool as a fucking cucumber in there. I thought it was a very good performance. I'd like to see Trevino face Ernest Chavez next. I like this fight a lot, it makes sense to me ranking wise and I think it'd be a good scrap. Trevino could also fight Elias Silverio or Yui Chul Nam.
Forte should fight Cedeno - Reason: Renee Forte did not look good in that fight. He missed weight the night before and didn't even try to lose the last one and a half pounds so that tells me he had a terrible cut and it showed in his performance. I think theres a very good chance Forte gets cut, hes lost three out of his last four fights and he missed weight. Thats a recipe for getting cut. If he doesn't get cut I'd like to see him face Yosdenis Cedeno next. I like this fight a lot, it makes sense to me ranking wise and I think it'd be a fun scrap. Forte could also fight Kazuki Tokudome or Adriano Martins.
Scoggins should fight Gaudinot - Reason: Justin Scoggins looked fantastic, he dominated from bell to bell. I was a very impressive performance and I expect Scoggins to go far in this division. I'd like to see Scoggins fight Louis Gaudinot next. I like this fight, it makes sense to me ranking wise. Gaudinot is a gradual step up in competition for Scoggins and I think it'd be an amazing fight. Scoggins could also fight The Winner of Cariaso vs Smolka or The Winner of Ortiz vs Ozkilic.
Campuzano should fight Sampo - Reason: This was Will Campuzano's UFC Flyweight debut and he looked terrible. He was out struck and out grappled for fifteen minutes. He was just getting beat up. I do like him at 125 lbs though and I believe hes going turn his UFC career around and start winning. I'd like to see him face Josh Sampo next. I like this a lot, it makes sense to me ranking wise and I think it'd be a great fight. Campuzano could also fight Neil Seery or Darren Uyenoyama.
Strickland should fight Cedenblad - Reason: This was Sean Strickland's UFC debut, he had some hype coming into this fight and he delivered. He looked very good, he pretty much did whatever he wanted to do to Bubba. He took him down, pounded on him and then choked him out. It was very impressive considering a Top 15 guy like Brad Tavares couldn't finish Bubba. I'd like to see Strickland start out slow and fight someone in Bubba's area ranking wise. I'd like to see Strickland face Magnus Cedenblad next. I like this fight and I think it'd be a very good fight. Strickland could also fight Krzysztof Jotko or The Winner of Perpetuo vs Robertson.
McDaniel should fight Troeng - Reason: Bubba McDaniel did not look good in that fight, he looked like shit. He did nothing in that fight, just got beat up and submitted. I think he's safe from being cut but he needs a win very badly. If he loses his next fight hes probably gone. I'd like to see him face Tor Troeng next. This fight makes a ton of sense to me, they were supposed to fight each other at 171 but Troeng had to pull out. The fight still makes a lot of sense and I don't see why this fight doesn't get rescheduled. I think it'd be a very good fight. I hope it happens. McDaniel could also fight Andy Enz or Mats Nilsson.
Whiteford should fight Souza - Reason: Rob Whiteford looked good and he picked up his first UFC win. He dominated, he was out striking Pineda on the feet and controlling him on the ground. It was a solid performance. I'd like to see Whiteford face Edimilson Souza next. I like this fight, it makes sense to me ranking wise. I think its a gradual step up in competition for Whiteford and I think it'd be a good scrap. Whiteford could also fight Mark Eddiva or Zubaira Tukhugov.
Daniel Pineda should be cut. He has lost four out of his last five fights. That sounds to me like a guy who should be cut. I see him getting cut and then signing with an Organization like RFA and I see him being successful there. After a handful of wins I'm sure he'll return to the UFC.
