With Johnny Hendricks out with an injury after his title fight against Robbie Lawler, the UFC will be looking to find him an opponent for when he returns. Rory MacDonald, Tyron Woodley, and Hector Lombard have all expressed their interests In a title shot. In my opinion Rory MacDonald isn't ready for one, he did just beat Maia but before that he dropped a fight to Lawler. In my book the two contenders are Hector Lombard and Tyron Woodley. Woodley knocked out Josh Koscheck and most recently defeated Carlos Condit.
Lombard has won both his fights after dropping to welterweight, knocking out Nate Marquardt and defeating Jake Shields by decision. Even though Condit's injury was what resulted in Woodley's win you can't deny that he was in control of the fight up until that point. As for Lombard, you can't really knock him for failing to finish a notoriously resilient Jake Shields. I'm a huge Nick Diaz fan, but him getting a title shot or number one contender fight makes absolutely no sense. Lombard vs Woodley is the fight to make at Welterweight.
