Hendricks vs. Lawler, Round 5

Lawler popped a jab early but Hendricks backed him off with a combination, even if it missed. He faked a takedown, backed off, and threw a punch. Then he faked another and came up throwing off that too.

Not long after, he actually did shoot in but Lawler worked hard to avoid getting dragged down. It was a stalemate for a couple minutes, as neither fighter would budge an inch. That led to the referee resetting the two in the center.

Hendricks fired off a couple punches and a hard leg kick. He did it again then shot in for a takedown. Lawler sprawled and avoided it.

He kept firing off with a jab and some lame right hands.

Hendricks came in with left hands and they started landing hard. Lawler was backing up big time and the crowd rose to its feet anticipating a possible finish. "Bigg Rigg" was pressing and "Ruthless" was wilting under the pressure. A big left hand followed by a kick.

Then, a takedown.

He held Lawler down for the rest of the round, refusing to do anything other than sit on top of him, and the horn sounded.

Final judges scorecards: 48-47 across the board.

HENDRICKS WINS.

Hendricks vs. Lawler, Round 4

Lawler came out super aggressive here, meeting Hendricks in the center and unloading with punches. Johny was slipping quite a few of them and defending well with his arms but the offense just kept coming.

Then, when Robbie got a little too aggressive, Hendricks backed him off with punches and another kick or two.

Robbie rocked a jab and another hard cross. Hendricks pushed forward but missed a few times. A lame takedown attempt was stuffed with ease. Lawler, to this point, had stuffed five of five attempts.

They reset and Hendricks was bleeding heavily from near his right eye. His entire shoulder was covered with blood. The two were pacing themselves now but continuing to stand in the middle and trade shots.

Hendricks landed a left hand and Robbie responded by landing one of his own.

A big uppercut landed for Lawler but Hendricks responded with a flurry. "Ruthless" smiled his way through it and they continued throwing. The volume of punches here was unreal.

Hendricks, despite his face so bloody, kept pressing forward. He earned a takedown to close the round.

Hendricks vs. Lawler, Round 3

Lawler opened with a kick of his own in this round but Hendricks responded by mixing up his offense, throwing combination punches and kicks that Robbie was ducking and moving to get away from. Plenty of shots landed, but plenty missed too.

Now, though, Lawler was staying committed to firing off kicks.

Hendricks moved in with more combinations. Punch, punch, kick, punch, knee, punch. He was relentless in his attack when he pushed but Lawler was staying in the pocket and doing just fine there.

Then Lawler landed some big shots and Hendricks looked dazed. In fact, his defense droped in a bad way and his punches lost a lot of oopmh. Every punch Robbie threw looked rough and tumble. Hendricks was surviving, and even fired back with punches of his own.

A takedown attempt failed and Hendricks reset in the center. He seemed to be recovering more and more, though, and the two just started trading blow in the center of the cage.

The round came to a close with the two staring at each other, slowed way down from their earlier pace.

Great round for Lawler.

Hendricks vs. Lawler, Round 2

Lawler came out moving around quite a bit, both with his head and his feet. The two engaged in some hard exchanges, with Lawler coming with the left and Hendricks rocking that right hand followed by some slapping leg kicks.

They sounded nasty and looked the same.

"Ruthless" stayed in tight, though, and continued working a jab. Hendricks responded by mixing up his attack, utilizing the leg kicks but dropping some knees and punches in at varied angles that had Lawler looking a bit frustrated.

You know, despite the smile on his face.

Lawler tried to get creative later in the round by throwing some elbow strikes standing. He stuffed a Hendricks takedown attempt before continuing to stand in front of "Rigg" and throw hands.

Robbie scored with some shots late but Hendricks answered the call with some big knees and punches of his own. The round ended that way.

It's getting hotter.

Hendricks vs. Lawler, Round 1

Hendricks was the first to throw a strike, a low leg kick that landed but didn't do much damage. It didn't take long for Lawler to find an opening and bum rush his opponent, pressing him against the cage and unloading with shots.

They looked good, but "Bigg Rigg" weathered the storm.

Hendricks continued firing off kicks, all low and a little lazy. When he moved in to clinch, "Ruthless" caught him with a left hand. They did some battling against the fence, but there was little give on either side.

Stalemate.

Hendricks had a knee blocked on his next clinch up but found his way in with another not long after. Then they reset in the center. There, "Rigg" landed a nice left hand that had his foe smiling.

Lawler responded by popping a stiff jab that sent Hendricks' head back.

More kicks came from the bearded bully, but they acted as a lead-in to yet another clinch. There, Hendricks scored with some dirty boxing and knees to the legs.

That ended round one.
