Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) has continued to unveil more of its international expansion, recently announcing its return to Dublin, Ireland, for a mid-summer mixed martial arts (MMA) event on July 19, 2014, the first time it's hit "The Emerald Isle" since 2010.
Conor McGregor is the leading candidate to headline what is expected to be a "Fight Night" event in his native land. And who better to face him than 145-pound nemesis, Cole Miller?
While the fight has yet to be formerly announced by anyone other than "Notorious" himself, Dublin-based sports bet wagering site "Paddy Power" has released odds on the tentative featherweight encounter.
UFC odds of March 12, 2014:
McGregor has odds of "1/2 or -200" meaning that a $100 wager on the undefeated Irishman would net you $50 (plus your $100 back).
On the other hand, "Magrinho" sits as the underdog with odds of "13/8 or +162" meaning that a $100 wager on the submission specialist would put $162 in your pocket (in addition to the $100 originally risked).
This potential fight stems from Cole taking offense to the way McGregor has been hyped up following his 2013 ZUFFA debut, labeling him an overrated "show pony," who was being strung along to help the world's largest MMA promotion "buy a country" (Ireland).
"Notorious" has responded by offering to sponsor "Magrinho's" next prelims fight.
There is clearly some bad blood here and with Diego Sanchez busy doing his own thing and Cub Swanson expecting a shot at the division title, McGregor vs. Miller is a fight that makes sense; however, nothing is official at this time.
But if you had to lay some cheddar, what do you think of the opening line?
