Official UFC rankings updated after UFC Fight Night 37: Michael Johnson rockets to near Top 10 status

Joe Camporeale-US PRESSWIRE has updated its "official" consensus rankings following this past Saturday's UFC Fight Night 37: "Gustafsson vs. Manuwa" in London, England, which includes three contributions from staff members. Check out the latest mixed martial arts (MMA) movers and shakers below.

The latest "official" Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) rankings are out with the conclusion of UFC Fight Night 37: "Gustafsson vs. Manuwa," which took place last Saturday (March 8, 2014) inside O2 Arena in London, England.

To see all the "Gustafsson vs. Manuwa" news that's fit to print, including results, check out our comprehensive event stream here.

After chasing Melvin Guillard for the better part of three rounds, much to the chagrin of company president Dana White, Michael Johnson was able to secure an important decision win that moved him up the rankings three places, leap-frogging Edson Barboza, Bobby Green and Rustam Khabilov to land at No. 11.

That leaves "The Menace" just on the outside looking in at the Top 10 thanks to a three-fight win streak that also includes victories over Joe Lauzon and Gleison Tibau.

Elsewhere on the list, Demian Maia was able to move up one Welterweight spot over Matt Brown for no apparent reason, while Brad Pickett plummeted seven Bantamweight spots even though he defeated Neil Seery this past weekend via unanimous decision.

It's probably because he's now a Flyweight, making his 125-pound rankings debut at No. 11.
