Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is gearing up for its return to Abu Dhabi, as the world's leading mixed martial arts (MMA) promotion recently confirmed a return date to Yas Island for April 11, 2014.
The news comes on the heels of the announcement that the ZUFFA-owned promotion had locked down a three-year broadcast deal with Abu Dhabi Media. In addition, the promotion also confirmed an earlier report that Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira will headline the "Fight Night" event opposite Roy Nelson.
"Big Country" looks to avoid his third straight loss against "Big Nog" -- who was last seen tapping out to Fabricio Werdum at UFC on FUEL TV 10 last year -- in a battle between two highly-skilled grapplers.
Let's just hope neither heavyweight acts like a "jackass," much like former UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva did at UFC 112 during his main event title fight against Demian Maia in promotion's first trip to Abu Dhabi back in 2010.
The event is expected to be the second of six Europe, Middle East and Africa "Fight Night" events to take place in 2014 according to the report.
All a part of the promotion's global expansion.
