They called it a real Rocky story but Patrick Cummins put up no fight at all when he stepped inside the cage with Daniel Cormier in the co-main event of last night's (Sat., Feb. 22, 2014) UFC 170: "Rousey vs. McMann" pay-per-view (PPV) at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. Actually, it took "DC" just 1:19 to finish his former training partner. Yes, that's the same former training partner who apparently made him cry during said training sessions. Whether that's true or not is now irrelevant because Cormier came through on his promise to utterly destroy his completely overmatched foe. Realistically, this went exactly the way it was supposed to, though it felt like a monumental waste of time, even if it only took just over one minute to complete. If nothing else, Cormier has now gone through a successful weight cut, got himself down to 205-pounds without issue, won a fight there, and looked damn good doing it. So there's that. But will that change when the level of opposition goes from unemployed coffee house worker to world class athlete? Stay tuned.
