UFC 170: "Rousey vs. McMann", from the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada, has officially wrapped, which means it's time for those select fighters who went above and beyond in their respective fights to get a little extra grease for their efforts.
Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) dished out its standard post-fight monetary bonuses to four of the 24 fighters on the card. And it's probably no surprise who's heading home with a second sack of simoleons.
Errrr... pump the brakes. This is where I remind you the bonus structure has changed since these were last handed out. "Fight of the Night" will still be awarded but the best knockout and submission will no earn any extra cash. Instead, there will be two "Performance of the Night" awards dished out.
Got it? Good.
Tonight, the performance bonuses went to Ronda Rousey, who was rewarded nicely for her controversial liver shot stoppage of Sara McMann in the main event, and Stephen Thompson, who put away Robert Whittaker with a flurry of punches in the main card kickoff.
The thrilling Rory MacDonald vs. Demian Maia bout, which saw the former come back from a rough first round to knock around the latter en route to a decision victory, win "Fight of the Night" honors.
Here are the special UFC 170 bonuses:
Performance of the Night -- Stephen Thompson
Performance of the Night -- Ronda Rousey
Fight of the Night -- Rory MacDonald vs. Demian Maia
Again, each fighter received $50,000 extra for their performances in addition to their respective base salaries, which we will pass along as soon as that information becomes available.
