The main card of tonight's (Sat., Feb. 22, 2014) UFC 170: "Rousey vs. McMann" pay-per-view (PPV) event from the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada, featured a battle of two welterweights who specialize in striking, Stephen Thompson vs. Robert Whittaker.
Thompson played fast and loose early, bouncing in and out with combinations, while Whittaker struggled a bit with range and timing. With his counter striking doing him no good, the Ultimate Fighter winner got aggressive.
It didn't help.
In fact, "Wonderboy" clipped Whittaker with a ridiculous right hand that sneaked through the defense and dropped his foe. The ensuing onslaught was simply too much to overcome and Mario Yamasaki had to step in to rescue the fallen TUF guy.
Back on the Thompson hype train, Maniacs?
