The main card of tonight's (Sat., Feb. 15, 2014) UFC Fight Night 36: "Machida vs. Mousasi" event at Arena Jaragua in Brazil on Fox Sports 1 kicked off with a featherweight bout pitting submission specialist Charles Oliveira against former Ultimate Fighter contestant Andy Ogle.
This was never supposed to be a main card showcase but injuries and a reshuffling of the card gave it a higher billing.
Ogle started fast throwing big blows early but he was quickly taken down before his Brazilian foe established positional dominance, threatening with a rear-naked choke and controlling the fight for nearly the entirety of the opening frame.
The second round looked largely the same, as Ogle came out fast and furious but ended up playing right into Oliveira's game. Once again, "Do Bronx" threatened with various chokes but the Brit managed to survive to the third and final round.
The complexion of the bout remained the same there, though Oliveira opened with a big shot that scored a knockdown early before jumping another submission.
After some more of the same, Oliveira finally cinched in a triangle and Ogle was forced to tap.
Hooray for the first finish of the night!
