A day after it was revealed that Jessica Eye had indeed failed her UFC 166 post-fight drug test due to marijuana, or cannabinoids, following her win over Sarah Kaufman in Houston, Texas, back on Oct. 19, 2013, "Evil" has issued a public apology.
Posting on her Instagram account (via Fox Sports), Jessica wrote:
"No one is more disappointed about this than I am. I take this personally and hold myself accountable. I am sorry to everyone."
During a recent appearance on "The MMA Hour," Jessica skirted the issue and blamed an error in the pre-fight paperwork for the recent controversy, despite a report stating that marijuana was at the root of the positive test.
But, as they say, the truth always comes out.
Her win over Kaufman was subsequently overturned to a "no decision" and Eye was fined a sum of $1,875.
Despite also receiving a year-long probationary suspension from the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, Eye was allowed to accept a fight against Alexis Davis at UFC 170, which goes down on Feb. 22, 2014 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
She has since passed her required pre-fight drug test for that bout, according to MMA Junkie, and is expected to receive her license to compete in the coming days.
