In perhaps his greatest move since walking off the cage and kicking Benson Henderson at WEC 53, UFC lightweight champion Anthony Pettis made his mom's dreams come true on Christmas day by buying her a new house, as well as a new car.
"Showtime" -- fresh off his first 155-pound title defense earlier this month in Las Vegas, Nevada (watch it), documented both moments on video via his Instagram account.
The first gift was the new car:
Next up, was the house, which brought her to tears.
Pettis, who has a tattoo on his chest that says, "all that I ever will be I owe to my mother," lost his father just over 10 years ago when he was 16. He was stabbed to death by a robber, and ever since then he has tried to do the best he can for her.
After he defeated Benson Henderson for the lightweight title at UFC 164, Pettis spoke up about the importance of his mother's role and how much she means to him.
"My mom really sacrificed a lot for us to be where I'm at," Pettis said at the post-fight presser. "She was a single parent, put three boys through catholic school, paid for Taekwondo. As a kid growing up I didn't really realize it, but now that I'm mature I see what she has done for me. It is amazing. If I can be half the person my mom is, I'm doing a good job."
Now that he is in a position to give back to his mom, he has gone above and beyond and showcased the true spirit of the holiday, by surprising his mother and making her cry tears of joy.
A new house, a new car and one of the best feel-good stories of 2014.
