Spike TV is undoubtedly pleased with the success of Bellator 131, which took place back on Nov. 15, in San Diego, California.
The promotion today revealed that "Tito vs. Bonnar" drew an average of 1.8 million viewers, making it the most watched free mixed martial arts (MMA) event on cable television for 2014, while noting that the main event fight itself peaked at over two million viewers.
Bellator President Scott Coker gushes:
"Bellator 131 was an incredible event that had something for everybody, and I'm thrilled to see our efforts were so well-received by our fans. I'm very proud of our entire Bellator and Spike family for all of the hard work they put resulting in these record-breaking ratings."
The key demos were also good for Spike.
Bellator 131 was the second highest-rated MMA show of 2014 for both men 18-34 and men 18-49. "Tito vs. Bonnar" was also No. 2 in its time slot in the same demos for ALL television on Saturday night, showing it held up well against both UFC and college football.
Coker is thrilled about what the future holds.
"The most exciting thing for me is the knowledge that that we are just getting started, and I can't wait for everyone to see what we have in store for the future."
I guess this number was worth it.
