Whether you want to talk about him or not, Conor McGregor's name always seems to sneak its way into the mix when talking about anything going on in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) featherweight division.
Just ask the champion, Jose Aldo, who says it's kind of hard to ignore his name because he can't walk down the street without someone coming up to him, begging him to beat the Irishman up once and for all.
It's also disrespectful, says Aldo, who told FOX Sports that talking about potentially fighting someone else when you already have a fight lined up isn't something he's a fan of.
"I'm really focused on Chad Mendes right now and I do think it's a little bit disrespectful. This fight hasn't even happened. There's nothing set yet. I do need to keep my feet on the ground and keep focused on Chad Mendes and not think of anyone else."
He continues:
"With fighters that are very outspoken and very loud like that, obviously you're going to hear about it. I'm not out online looking for things or researching him in any way, but when people come up to me and say 'Hey, go beat up this guy' or whatever ... So the news does arrive; I do hear about it."
Aldo is set to defend his title once again as he rematches "Money" in the main event of UFC 179, which goes down on Oct. 25, 2014 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. And that disrespect Jose was referring to, is also aimed at Mendes as he's challenging for the title next, not "Notorious," says the champ.
Nevertheless, the winner of that championship fight will defend his title against McGregor, as UFC President Dana White has already pegged "Notorious" as the next man in line.
And should "Junior" prevail once again, he better be prepared to hear McGregor's name over and over and over...
