Zach Makovsky vs. Josh Sampo set for UFC 170 on Feb. 22 in Las Vegas

A battle between two flyweights has been added to UFC 170, set to go down on Feb. 22, 2014, from the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The upcoming UFC 170 fight card, which will take place on Feb. 22, 2014, from inside the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada, and air on pay-per-view (PPV), FOX Sports 1 and "Fight Pass," is starting to take shape.

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) officials recently announced that two flyweights will enter the Octagon when Josh Sampo takes on Zach Makovsky.

Both men are 1-0 in their short tenures under Zuffa's banner.

Makovsky, also know as "Fun Size," is a former Bellator bantamweight champion who was released by the promotion after losing twice consecutively in underwhelming fashion. The 31-year-old followed his departure from Bellator with two wins on the independent circuit.

One took place in UFC's minor league partner, Resurrection Fighting Alliance (RFA), before earning an opportunity to fight top-10 ranked Scott Jorgensen on short notice at UFC on FOX 9. His performance opened some eyes about what he has left in the world of mixed martial arts (MMA) and he will look to parlay that win next month in "Sin City."

Sampo's first appearance in UFC was bittersweet.

After failing to make weight prior to The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 18 Finale, Sampo put forth one of the best performances on the entire card, which ended up costing him $50,000 as they were rewarded 'Fight Of The Night' and he was subsequently left out of the money after his scale snafu rendered him ineligible.

"Gremlin" will enter the bout riding a five-fight winning streak.

UFC 170 will be headlined by a 135-pound women's championship contest pitting Ronda Rousey against fellow Olympian Sara McMann. The co-main event will feature a light heavyweight showdown between Rashad Evans and Daniel Cormier while Demian Maia and Rory MacDonald collide in main card action.
