The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 18 winner, Julianna Pena, will begin her Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) run in earnest at UFC 171, drawing Jessica Andrade in a Bantamweight bout scheduled for American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas, on March 15, 2014.
Promotion officials confirmed the booking online via Twitter.com earlier this evening, as well as another fine Featherweight scrap between Jim Hettes and TUF 14 runner-up Dennis Bermudez.
Pena is coming off an impressive first round technical knockout stoppage of Jessica Rakoczy at TUF 18 Finale in Nov. 2013, while Andrade topped Rosi Sexton at UFC Fight Night 30 one month earlier.
Hettes returned from a year-long layoff to submit Robert Whiteford on the same "Machida vs. Munoz" card as Andrade. Bermudez, meanwhile, has been on a tear since losing TUF 18 crown to Diego Brando, reeling off five straight victories, most recently scoring a unanimous decision over Steven Siler at UFC Fight Night 31 in Nov. 2013.
UFC 171 is shaping up to be a monster pay-per-view (PPV) event, featuring the showdown between Johny Hendricks and Robbie Lawler for the vacant Welterweight title that Georges St-Pierre recently vacated in the main event of the evening.
In other main card action, fellow 170-pound standouts Carlos Condit and Tyron Woodley, as well as Hector Lombard and Jake Shields, will all come to blows in "The Lone Star State."
That's not all.
