THE CHAMP IS HERE!
Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Middleweight Champion Chris Weidman is coming off his second victory over Anderson Silva at UFC 168 this past weekend (Dec. 28, 2013) at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Weidman's next opponent has already been decided. He'll face Vitor Belfort later in 2014 in his second title defense. Belfort is riding an impressive three-fight win streak that's seen him finish all three opponents by head kick knockout. At 36 years old, Belfort is in the middle of the most successful run of his mixed martial arts (MMA) career.
With a bout on the horizon, the oddsmakers have already set a line for the next 185-pound title fight.
Surprisingly, Weidman has opened as the slight favorite over the dominant Belfort. Currently Sportsbook has Weidman as a -225 favorite, while Belfort is listed as +175. Obviously that betting line will move as the bout gets closer.
Weidman hopes to face Belfort in Las Vegas, Nevada, on UFC's yet-to-be-announced Memorial Day weekend card.
