Longtime mixed martial arts (MMA) veteran and Japanese superstar Tatsuya Kawajiri will finally make his Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) debut this Saturday night (Jan. 4, 2014) when the Zuffa-owned company invades Marina Bay Sands in Singapore for UFC Fight Night 34.
Standing in his way is fellow Octagon newcomer, Sean Soriano.
As Kawajiri attempts to win his fourth straight bout since dropping down to the featherweight division, he plans to do it in impressive fashion by unleashing a top secret move.
He explains to Bloody Elbow:
"I will hit him with a punch, take him down, pass his guard, and then I'll finish him with my special hold called, Kawa-Chan Hold."
Lobbying to fight at least three times in 2014 before getting a shot at division kingpin Jose Aldo, "Crusher" already has a gameplan ready if he ever finds himself face-to-face with "Scarface."
"What I am going to have to do against a guy like that, is to just keep attacking and attacking, and I won't give him time to attack me. That's the way I have to fight Aldo."
Easier said than done.
Nevertheless, Tatsuya is confident their paths will cross, but he must first get through an undefeated Soriano (8-0) in Singapore who looks to make a splash of his own in his UFC debut.
And he's confident he can get it done thanks to the "Kawa-Chan Hold."
