Contingency? What contingency?
Good news for NFL fans and players alike! Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) fans have cause for celebration, too.
The weather forecast for Super Bowl 48, scheduled for Sun., Feb. 2, 2014, at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J., is improving as we inch closer and closer to the Denver Broncos battling the Seattle Seahawks in the biggest NFL game of the year.
The latest comes by way of Weather.com:
"It looks like things are getting a little more clear in regards to the forecast. ... As we head towards the weekend, temperatures will warm up closer to average, with highs in the upper 30's to near 40-degrees. There is a weather system that's approaching on Saturday, and that may bring possibly some snow to start changing over to rain but it looks like that system's going to get out of there by early Sunday. So by Super Bowl time, temperatures in the 30's, winds don't look like a big problem, and no rain or snow in the forecast at this time."
Although Commissioner Roger Goodell has publicly stated multiple times that the league office welcomes inclement weather, there was a fear for a short time that the NFL would decide to move the Super Bowl to Saturday night to avoid disaster with its biggest game of the season.
Looks like Dana White and the UFC can rest easy.
