The newest member of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) family, Joe Ellenberger, will finally get his first taste of life inside the Octagon as the mixed martial arts (MMA) promotion announced that he will makes his much-anticipated debut at UFC 172 on April 26, 2014, when he faces Yancy Medeiros in Baltimore, Maryland.
And he'll have the benefit of fighting on the same pay-per-view (PPV) card as his older brother, Jake Ellenberger, to help with the infamous Octagon jitters as "The Juggernaut" faces Tarec Saffiedine in the co-main event of the evening.
Ellenberger recently signed a four-fight deal to compete for UFC after racking up two straight wins under the Titan Fighting Championship and Victory Fighting Championship banners. Joe suffered the first and only loss of his professional mixed martial arts (MMA) career to Justin Salas in 2011.
With a record of 14-1, Ellenberger looks to make a name for himself in the highly-competitive lightweight division. Standing in his way, however, is Medeiros, a tough Hawaiian who only has one loss on his record, as well, losing to Rustam Khabilov in his UFC debut at UFC 159 due to a thumb injury.
Yancy got back on the winning track in his last outing by knocking out Yves Edwards in the very first round at UFC: "Fight For The Troops 3" last November.
UFC 172 -- which takes place at Baltimore Arena -- will feature a light heavyweight title fight as division champion Jon Jones looks to defends his strap against a red-hot Glover Teixeira.
