Tito Ortiz charged with two counts of DUI, could face up to six months in jail following Los Angeles car crash

Mark J. Rebilas-US PRESSWIRE

After a public and messy split from Jenna Jameson, longtime mixed martial arts (MMA) veteran Tito Ortiz continues to struggle with life outside the Octagon.

The charges have been handed down against Tito Ortiz following his car crash earlier this month in Los Angeles.

The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) hall of famer and current Bellator attraction has been slapped with two counts of driving under the influence (DUI), according to a report from TMZ, after crashing his 2012 Porsche Panamera into a concrete median back on Jan. 6, 2014.

Ortiz could face up to six months in jail if convicted, as well as a $1,000 fine, but as the report indicates, "The People's Champion" is likely to instead receive probation and be required to complete an alcohol education course, since it's his first offense.

Luckily, no one was hurt.

The longtime mixed martial arts (MMA) veteran was expected to make his Bellator debut last November; however, a neck injury forced him to withdraw (details). He's since returned to training after getting clearance from his physician, but he may not get signed to a fight, for fear of paralysis.

Until then, his only fighting will be in a Los Angeles courtroom.
