Henderson opened with a thigh punch, if you can believe that. He followed it with a head kick that Thomson shrugged off with a smile and a nod.
Thomson quickly earned a hard takedown -- we're talking a straight up slam -- not long after this. He quickly transitioned to Henderson's back, too, and found a body triangle to completely control positioning.
To his credit, "Smooth" is nearly impossible to submit and he proved difficult once again, even standing up and using the fence to look for an opening to get the 160-pound man riding his back off him.
It worked. Actually, his defense of as much was pitch perfect.
This gave way to a battle along the fence as the two pummeled for underhooks until "Bendo" used a trip to take Thomson down. "The Punk" got back up but in the process, Henderson locked in an arm triangle. He dropped down to his back to complete it, but Thomson defended well.
The round came to a close with Thomson earning yet another big takedown, almost dropping Henderson on his head.
