Since UFC 94 I have seen criticism of the most dominant and successful Welterweight in UFC history. Immediately following that fight, he was already being called risk-averse and boring. He didn't finish two opponents in a row and was labelled boring already. Man if we knew he'd never finish an opponent again how silly would we have felt jumping the gun back then eh?
But I digress. The fans are fucking abhorring. Myself included. We're ruthless. I've never seen a "champion" get so much flak at all times from all angles. He was the least celebrated champion in the history of the sport. Maybe there was more disdain for a Tito Ortiz or Brock Lesnar, but GSP's legacy is as long as the "boooooooooooooo" I can still hear from the audience.
UFC 129. My first live GSP fight. Also the last time I ever paid to watch that fucker fight. What an amazing event from start to the beginning of the main event. What a horrible, horrible, HORRIBLE fight. That will go down as the worst GSP fight in the history of the UFC in my mind.
For every "fan" of his in glorious Canada who attended, we collectively booed him into retirement. It only took about 5 years for him to hear the message.
If he'd just come out and say "you do not ap-pre-ciate my pe-fo-mance" he'd be completely justified in saying fuck you guys, I am not getting brain damage so you can write another shitty post about how much you hate how I fight.
