Jason High has won his last two bouts under the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) banner and was looking to start his 2014 with a bang against Beneil Dariush.
The fight, as well as "The Kansas City Bandit's" mixed martial arts (MMA) career, is seemingly on hold after High suffered a ruptured appendix on New Year's Day, following the trend of his original opponent Adlan Amagov getting injured.
No replacement has been named for the originally scheduled match-up at UFC Fight Night 35, which goes down in less than two weeks (Jan. 15, 2014) in Duluth, Georgia, on FOX Sports 1.
High took to his Twitter account to set the record straight.
You have GOT to be fucking kidding me... Fuck appendicitis & anybody that love him. @MikeKogan Sorry @UFC & Beniel. Obviously wont be able 2 fight. *sad face* So no surgery just yet. They said its prob been burst a few days but I'm a knucklehead. They're gonna insert a tube to drain puss & wait for inflammation to subside before they do surgery. Having that procedure tomorrow AM. Thanks for all the kind words & thoughts.
High originally thought he would undergo surgery on Wednesday, but after examination, his medical team decided to push the procedure to Thursday morning. Here's to High recovers quickly and gets back into the Octagon ASAP.
UFC Fight Night 35 pops off at the Arena at Gwinnett Center and is anchored by a main event featuring a middleweight showdown between Luke Rockhold and Constantinos Philipppou.
