UFC lands three-year broadcast deal with Abu Dhabi Media

USA TODAY Sports

Abu Dhabi already has a 10-percent share of ZUFFA (details), and now it has a broadcast deal to go along with it.

I guess they're no longer mad.

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) continues its global expansion (more on that here), recently announcing a new, three-year broadcast deal with Abu Dhabi Media, adding to its already impressive list of international programming in 150 countries across 22 languages.

From acting chief executive of Abu Dhabi Media Saif Ghobash (via The National):

"As per the terms of the agreement, Abu Dhabi sports channels will bring wide-spread UFC coverage to North Africa, as well as exclusive coverage to all countries in the Middle East; broadcasting across ADM's free-to-air sports channels and encrypted platform. Coverage will also broadcast across Abu Dhabi TV Network's online and mobile sites and through regional IPTV networks."

The programming line-up also includes non-event broadcasts like weigh ins, "Countdown" and "Road to the Octagon" specials.

ZUFFA debuted in Abu Dhabi back in 2010, but was forced to flee the country with its tail between its legs, following what UFC President Dana White called "the lowest moment of his career," thanks to a 25-minute display of jackassery from then-middleweight champion Anderson Silva in the main event of UFC 112.
