Two feisty females looking to get back in the win column, Miesha Tate and Liz Carmouche, have been booked to battle at UFC on FOX 11, which is set for Amway Center in Orlando, Fla., on April 19, 2014.
Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) announced the women's mixed martial arts (MMA) match up earlier this evening via Twitter.com.
Tate, of course, is coming off a submission loss to arch enemy Ronda Rousey in the co-main event of UFC 168 in Dec. 2013. The rematch was the culmination of The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 18, the first-ever season of the UFC "reality show" to feature female coaches.
It was great exposure for "Cupcake," even though she was ultimately over matched (again) by the much more talented Rousey. Nonetheless, Tate -- who did what no other fighter has done to date, taking Rousey into the third round -- absolutely needs a win over Carmouche to remain relevant ... and avoid a three-fight losing streak.
"Girl-Rilla" was last scene in the Octagon at UFC Fight Night 31: "Fight for Troops 3" in Nov. 2013, dropping a unanimous decision to Alexis Davis. Carmouche, who was one-half of the historic first UFC female fight at UFC 157 last year (albeit in a losing effort to Rousey), has just one win, a technical knockout stoppage of Jessica Andrade, in three UFC appearances.
UFC on FOX 11 will also feature a No. 1 heavyweight contender eliminator match between Fabricio Werdum vs. Travis Browne (more details here). No other bouts, including the main event, for UFC on FOX 11 are known at this time.
