Pic: Matt Riddle Claims He Retired From MMA Today

Matt Riddle, a 12-fight Octagon veteran who was released after testing positive for marijuana after a UFC on FUEL TV 7 bout against Che Mills -- his second offense in his three most recent appearances -- has retired from mixed martial arts (MMA) today. Riddle, 27, claims that injuries and a shortage of work with Bellator, which purchased his contract from Legacy Fighting Championships earlier this year, leaves him with no other choice put to hang up the gloves early. During his five-plus year tenure with the UFC, The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 7 alum picked up notable wins over the likes of Dan Cramer, DaMarques Johnson and John Maguire, among others. It appeared Riddle was just hitting his stride -- and peace pipe -- up until the somewhat sudden release.
