And another fight gets booked for UFC Fight for the Troops 3.
Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) announced this afternoon (September 6, 2013) that James Krause will face Bobby Green in the Octagon. Headlined by Tim Kennedy welcoming Lyoto Machida to the UFC's middleweight division, Fight for the Troops is the Vegas-based promotion's way of giving back to American servicemen and women.
For this third outing, the event shall be held at Fort Campbell in Kentucky on November 6, 2013.
Both Green and Krause are riding extended winning streaks, which makes this bout all the more interesting. Green is a former Strikeforce fighter that made a splash by finishing former UFC lightweight, Jacob Volkmann, by rear naked choke in his UFC debut. That bout subsequently bounced Volkmann from the UFC. Green earned Submission of the Night honors for his performance.
Krause took a bit of a longer road to the UFC. A cast member on the Ultimate Fighter: Live, Krause failed to gain entry into the house, losing his opening bout to Justin Lawrence by TKO in the first round. Krause was able to rebound on the regional scene, and successfully made his UFC debut at UFC 161 against Sam Stout, winning by guillotine choke in the third. That submission earned Krause the Fight of the Night and Submission of the Night bonuses.
This bout will help define the UFC's lightweight division, with both men being extremely promising prospects. Green will have the athletic edge, while Krause is the far more technical fighter.
No word yet if it will make the Fox Sports 1 main card.
