A hugely important flyweight fight went down on the main card of tonight's (Wed., Sept. 4, 2013) UFC Fight Night 28: "Teixeira vs. Bader" event on Fox Sports 1 from Belo Horizonte, Brazil, as Joseph Benavidez aimed to continue his road back to a title shot against former wannabe top contender Jussier Formiga.
Continue it he did.
That's because he made short work of Formiga, himself a potential for a future showdown with division kingpin Demetrious Johnson, avoiding his grappling game and finishing the job with a series of punches in the very first round.
Just like that, it was over.
That doesn't necessarily mean "Joe-B" is ready for another crack at the aforementioned "Mighty Mouse" but he certainly made the best case possible.
