Well, THAT CAME OUT OF NOWHERE.
Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) came, saw and conquered Air Canada Centre in Toronto, Ontario, Canada last night (Sat., Sept. 21, 2013), with a championship double-dip in the main- and co-main events of its latest pay-per-view (PPV) event.
John Makdessi and Stephen Thompson lit up an otherwise ho-hum "Prelims" under card, which was split between Facebook and FOX Sports 1, thanks to two equally devastating -- and impressive -- stoppages of their respective opponents.

Meanwhile, the PPV main card, seemed to slog along. And then all hell broke loose. Jon Jones scored a record-setting sixth Light Heavyweight title defense with a very close -- INSTANT CLASSIC -- unanimous decision over Alexander Gustafsson (watch highlights here), while Renan Barao continued his ridiculous mixed martial arts (MMA) win streak, retaining his Bantamweight belt in the process, with an insane spinning heel kick to finish Eddie Wineland (watch highlights here) in round two.
Immediately following the event, UFC President Dana White -- along with a handful of notable fighters such as Barao, Wineland, Brendan Schaub and Matt Mitrione, among others -- took the dais to answer for their respective performances, some of which garnered them additional cash. Jones and Gustafsson, however, were not in attendance because the pair had to hit the hospital to tend to their wounds.
