Joe Lauzon vs Mac Danzig lightweight fight set for UFC on FOX 9 in Sacramento

After four losses between the two of them, Joe Lauzon vs. Mac Danzig is now set for UFC on Fox 9 in Sacramento.

According to the official Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Twitter account, Joe Lauzon vs. Mac Danzig is all set to go down at UFC on FOX 9 from the Sleep Train Arena in Sacramento, Calif., on Dec. 14, 2013.

Both lightweight combatants are coming off consecutive losses and looking to right the ship. They are two of the more popular fighters in UFC, but while both are typically exciting and utilize a go-all-out style, (sometimes going home looking like this) neither has fully reached his potential.

Danzig (21-11-1) made his way to the Octagon by winning the sixth edition of The Ultimate Fighter (TUF).

While he's enjoyed mixed martial arts (MMA) success, his overall UFC record has now slid to 5-7. This includes losing his last two fights. Melvin Guillard knocked Danzig out in July at UFC on FOX 8, which came after a "Fight of the Night" performance in a split-decision loss to Takanori Gomi at UFC Macau in China.

"J-Lau" (22-9) also enters this fight coming off back-to-back decision losses to Michael Johnson and Jim Miller, respectively. The most recent defeat had to sting just a bit, as it took place in Boston at UFC Fight Night 26 and the scorecards featured a rare (30-25) score.

Lauzon maintains a 9-6 record inside the Octagon and has racked up 12 post-fight bonus awards, which is a record he shares with former UFC Middleweight Champion Anderson Silva.

Could we see number 13 in "Sac Town?"

UFC on FOX 9 will feature a lightweight championship title fight between newly-crowned 155-pound kingpin Anthony Pettis against former Strikeforce strap-hanger Josh Thomson. In addition, Urijah Faber will throw hands opposite fellow bantamweight badass Michael McDonald.
