Mayweather vs. Canelo results recap: Showtime boxing PPV event wrap up for 'The One' on Sept. 14 in Las Vegas

Jayne Kamin-Oncea-USA TODAY Spor

Stick a fork in this one, fight fans, as "The One" is done. Floyd Mayweather Jr. cruised to a majority decision victory (lolz) against young Mexican phenom Saul "Canelo" Alvarez. Those of you who saved yourself the $75 or just took the weekend off from combat sports can find out what you missed in our results wrap up and link dump below.

That's a wrap.

While I wouldn't go so far as to call them "wolf tickets," the boys over in the "sweet science" did an admirable job of convincing the combat sports fan base -- even us fine folks here in mixed martial arts (MMA) -- that Saul Alvarez was a credible threat to Floyd Mayweather Jr.

As if.

You probably wouldn't know by looking at the scorecards from last weekend's Showtime boxing pay-per-view (PPV), but Mayweather dominated his younger opponent from bell-to-bell, putting on a classic "Money" performance to secure a 12-round majority decision.

Or a draw, according to the much-maligned C.J. Ross.

The "Mayweather vs. Canelo" spectacle was bolstered by a headlining-worthy co-main event showdown between Danny Garcia vs. Lucas Matthysse, in which a "Swift" victory helped Garcia unify the 140-pound titles last Saturday night (Sept. 14, 2013) at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Bottom line?

There was a lot going on in "Sin City" last weekend with several major storylines involving all the major players. And since you, the fight fan, may have been enjoying your weekend off from Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) competition, we've gone ahead and compiled a neat and tidy link dump for your disposal.

That's a wrap.

For the time being, anyway. Mayweather still has a handful of fights left on his Showtime contract (details) so expect to see him back in action sooner rather than later, especially considering how he hardly broke a sweat last weekend against Canelo.

Until then, fight fans.
