Vitor Belfort is currently stuck in a holding pattern at Middleweight where he's riding two impressive wins over Michael Bisping and Luke Rockhold. He believes these wins have put him in line for a title shot, but Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) President Dana White has been noncommittal regarding Belfort's standing in the division.
Belfort has stated that the only way he'll fight at 185 pounds is if it's for the belt, so UFC has booked him against Dan Henderson this fall at Light Heavyweight.
The two fighters met in 2006 at PRIDE 32 in Las Vegas. Henderson won the fight by controlling Belfort on the ground and took home a unanimous decision. Belfort subsequently tested positive for an illegal substance, 4-hydroxytestosterone, and was suspended for nine months and fined $10,000.
This bout is Belfort's shot at redemption and maybe the start of an exciting run at Light Heavyweight and an eventual rematch with champion, Jon Jones.
