UFC Light Heavyweight Lyoto Machida calls for five round rematch against Phil Davis

Jason da Silva-USA TODAY Sports

Would five rounds make a difference in a Machida/Davis rematch?

If at first you don't succeed (or get robbed by the judges), try, try again....with more rounds.

Former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Lyoto Machida lost a very controversial decision to Phil Davis in the co-main event of UFC 163 this past weekend despite fighting in his native Brazil.

While "The Dragon" has already publicly asked for a rematch, he revealed a stipulation last night during UFC Tonight on Fuel TV to Ariel Helwani:

Five rounds would certainly make things more interesting and potentially more definitive.

Davis was able to take Machida down in both the first and second rounds of the original bout which helped him win the first two frames in the judges' eyes, but by far the best round for Machida was the third, where he stuffed every one of Davis' takedown attempts and outstruck "Mr. Wonderful" on the feet.

If there ever is a rematch and it winds up being a five round main event, do you feel Machida would have a big advantage, or will he still have to change his style?
