UFC Fight Night 26: "Shogun vs Sonnen" is going to be the "sickest live fight card you have ever seen," according to Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) President Dana White (and MMAmania.com's Alex Giardini).
The promotion's upcoming mixed martial arts (MMA) event, which takes place at TD Garden in Boston, Mass., on Aug. 17, 2013, will be its first ever on FOX Sports 1 network, featuring a Light Heavyweight headliner that pits former 205-pound champion Mauricio Rua opposite ex-Middleweight contender Chael Sonnen.
In addition, a monster Heavyweight clash between Alistair Overeem vs. Travis Browne will rock the co-main event, while long-time Welterweight contender Thiago Alves takes on the "Immortal" Matt Brown and The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) veterans Michael Johnson vs. Joe Lauzon hook 'em up for a spot in the 155-pound pecking order.
It's a "stacked" main card, but as White points out in the video above, the "Prelims" are loaded with exciting match ups, too, all of which will air on the new network -- five full hours of non-stop action!
To promote the historic show, White is rolling out the first of what he promises to be several behind-the-scenes video blog segments. He begins with a backstage look at UFC 162, the blockbuster Fourth of July weekend event that featured the upset of the year when Chris Weidman knocked out legendary 185-pound champion Anderson Silva in round two.
Footage includes an irate Chris Leben, relieved Cub Swanson, calm Mark Munoz, victorious Frankie Edgar and, of course, the surreal scene moments after "All American" scored one of the most shocking upsets in recent memory when he squished "The Spider."
That's not all ... Enjoy!
