UFC 163 results: Ian McCall breaks hand against Iliarde Santos

Ian McCall

At UFC 163, Flyweight contender Ian McCall suffered a broken hand against UFC newcomer Iliarde Santos at HSBC Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

At UFC 163 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, last night (Aug. 3, 2013), Flyweight contender Ian McCall fought through adversity to score a unanimous decision win over Iliarde Santos and pick up his first-ever Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC victory.

The bout saw McCall put on a technical display of various strikes against a clearly out skilled and outmatched Santos. The only time when it appeared that Santos had an advantage on the feet was when McCall abandoned his game plan and got in wild striking exchanges.

At some point during the fight, McCall broke his right hand, yet he continued to throw combinations.

McCall posted the photo on his Facebook with a caption reading:

"For those asking if I really broke my hand .... Here you go. Not to bad but def broken."

Despite this obstacle, McCall still managed to out strike his opponent 104-46, according to Fight Metric. In the process, "Uncle Creepy" also pocketed a $50,000 "Fight of the Night" bonus.

No pain, no gain.
